The Model United Nations (MAMUN) club is structured in the manner of the United Nations. Our students act as ambassadors from UN member states to debate current issues on the organizaton's vast agenda. Students draft resolutions, plot strategy, negotiate with supporters and adversaries, resolve conflicts and navigate the UN's rules of procedures - all in the interest of mobilizing "international cooperation" to resolve problems that affect countries all over the world.
Before they can become ambassadors, students must research the important world issues that will be addressed at conference. MAMUN participants learn how the international community acts on concerns about peace and security, human rights, the environment, food and hunger, economic development, and globalization.
Students look closely at the needs, goals, and foreign policies of the country to be represented at conference. The insights gained from their exploration of history, geography, culture, economics, and science contribute to the authenticity of the simulation and create lively and memorable experiences while providing students with an enhanced education.
